Dr Lucy Jenner, currently serving as Person Responsible at Care Fertility, has been shortlisted for the EFS Best Fertility Embryologist Award 2026 — recognition of a career spanning over 30 years of clinical, governance, and educational contribution to the field.

A career defined by patient-centred science

Dr Jenner's clinical expertise covers the full spectrum of assisted conception technologies: micromanipulation, embryo culture and selection, cryopreservation, embryo biopsy, and the integration of reproductive genetic testing. Throughout her career, she has led multidisciplinary laboratory teams through inspection cycles, service developments, and technological change, while maintaining robust safety records and a consistent culture of traceability and accountability.

As Chair of the Care Fertility network's Biopsy Focus Group and Genetics Lead, she has played a central role in the responsible development and implementation of reproductive genetic technologies across the organisation.

Beyond the laboratory

Dr Jenner's contribution extends well beyond her own practice. She is a published author, peer reviewer, and mentor whose work has shaped both individual careers and broader professional standards. Her involvement in national focus groups and journal reviewing has helped ensure that scientific developments in embryology are held to the highest standards of evidence and ethics.

"Lucy Jenner is the most professional, talented and kind embryologist I have ever worked with. She has taught me so much and gladly shares her knowledge and experience with colleagues, always keeping the patient at the front and centre of all that she does." — MSc Embryology Trainee, Care Fertility

A legacy in workforce development

Dr Jenner is retiring in 2026 after a career that has left a lasting mark on the profession. Her own reflection captures the ethos that has guided her work throughout:

"Looking back over my career, I am proud not only of the work I have done personally, but of the lasting improvements in systems, professional standards, and workforce capability that ultimately enhance patient care." — Dr Lucy Jenner

For partners and press, Dr Jenner's nomination represents something important: the accumulated expertise of a clinical leader who has worked at the highest levels of fertility science, governance, and education, and who has consistently chosen to give that expertise back to the profession.
