Dr Ally Richardson, Shortlisted for Best Fertility Doctor

Dr Ally Richardson, Medical Director at Care Fertility Northampton and Group Medical Director for Care Fertility, has been shortlisted for the EFS Best Fertility Doctor Award 2026. Her nomination recognises sustained clinical excellence across some of the most complex areas of reproductive medicine, alongside significant contributions to governance, education and ethical leadership in the field.

Specialist expertise, individualised care

Dr Richardson is a Consultant and Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine, with a particular focus on recurrent implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, reduced ovarian reserve and fertility preservation — areas that demand nuanced clinical judgment and genuinely individualised patient pathways. Her practice treats fertility medicine as a biopsychosocial discipline, balancing surgical and medical intervention with emotional support and clear, shared decision-making.

This clinical depth is underpinned by a PhD in reproductive medicine and an MA in Medical Ethics and Law, which equip her to navigate the complex ethical questions inherent in assisted conception and in supporting families with diverse reproductive needs, including LGBTQ+ patients and those pursuing fertility preservation.

Leadership beyond the consulting room

As Group Medical Director, Dr Richardson plays a central role in shaping clinical standards and governance across multiple clinics, leading the development of SOPs and balanced scorecard outcome monitoring that standardise care while preserving personalised treatment. She is also a GMC-recognised Clinical and Educational Supervisor, sits on the RCOG MRCOG Examination Subcommittee, and contributes to guideline development for RCOG and the British Fertility Society — work that has shaped evidence-based practice well beyond her own clinic.

Her academic output includes more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, three book chapters, and over 30 presentations at national and international scientific meetings — alongside public-facing education work, including Care Fertility's Introduction to IVF video series.
